Life Advising

Life has different meanings for different people. Some people believe in the theory of karma, some find it a battle of religion, atheism or belief, and some people simply follow their heart. It’s not an absolute concept, rather it is based on an individual's thoughts, the environment they exist in and their interaction with people around them. All of us form our own perceptions which are unique and may or may not relate to other people or communities.

Life is a journey into the unknown - it’s not a destination.  We are here to explore and live life to our full potential. Everyone has their own dreams and aspirations, and to fulfil those dreams and aspirations, we set different milestones. Reaching a milestone is a happy moment and celebrating it motivates us to do more. At times, these milestones seem like grand achievements, and we make them so important in our lives that we forget to move forward. We keep celebrating until, one fine day, we find ourselves thinking - "what do I actually wish for?". This self-introspection makes us look deeper into ourselves and we start to wonder - "what goals did I actually set out to achieve?". What does it mean to have goals? Goals are different for different people, for example, some people are highly ambitious while some are conditioned to live a life of compromises, patience and acceptance.

I read somewhere: "Build your own dreams or someone else will hire you to build theirs"

It took me some time to understand it, but then it made me wonder about the wives, mothers, and daughters that I had seen around me. Very few of them had their own goals. It made me wonder about my own goals in life. Even though I want to have a happy family, I also wanted to have my own goals.

There are so many women who have balanced their careers with their family life, and I thought to myself - "If they can do it, then I can do it too". I realized that it doesn't matter that we are available 24/7 to our family, but what matters is spending quality time with them.

Deep inside, I had burried my dreams with a faith that, one day, I would make it big in life. I would make a place for myself in this world and fly high like a bird. I would achieve something of my own, and not as someone’s daughter or wife or sister. A place that is curated by me, for me, and no one except me.

Once we reach a milestone, we wonder - " what's next?". I feel like there is so much to learn and explore, and the most important thing is - there is always a scope for improvement. Often, we find ourselves so engrossed in celebrating our achievements that we forget to look ahead.

Our life is the result of the stories we tell ourselves and the choices we make. If you ever feel like you don't see a path forward, then just sit alone, close your eyes and think - "Am I happy?"

Open your heart and let it guide you on the path which would make you happy as you move along...
